Your beauty astounds me,
And your serenity surrounds me.
As I stare into your calming abyss,
I close my eyes and fall into a quiet bliss.
* * *
Your birds sing songs of freedom,
And your flowers sway to the rhythm of the wind.
As I watch a mother bird flying to its nest,
With a worm in its beak
And its little ones abreast
I catch a glimpse of the simple joys of life
Like freedom, peace, and my mother’s smile.
As I watch a lone flower,
Sway to the beat of its unwanted heart
I am engulfed in loneliness
And my peace starts to fall apart.
Your birds start singing songs of sorrow
About a world of despair, and a dreary tomorrow.
